I was performing the 200 hour maintenance on my BX 23, and I noticed the larger bracket that mounts the air cleaner to the engine block was broken by the stud that is attached to the head. It looks like a frequency break, nothing hit the bracket and the air cleaner housing is really light weight. Today I went to the dealer and asked about the bracket and he told me that this is the new idea to solve the old style bracket that did the same thing, the tractor is under warranty so no cost to me, but I’m just wondering if any one else has had this problem.

This is a common and recurring problem. I simply found that it does not hurt any thing to leave the thing broke. ....

Mine broke like that and there was a warranty fix for it, but I had already gotten it secured by using a large hose clamp. The size you use to attach your vent hose to the clothes dryer seems to work.

I had to grind/file a small ‘flat’ on the bracket that holds the whole mess. All in all it was a 15-minute fix.

I had the same problem on my BX1500 before the first 50 hr service. The dealer indicated that it was a known problem and took care of it under warrenty. Jimbrown, I wouldn't leave the bracket broken. The vibration of the engine will surely cause fatigue or abrasion failures elsewhere if the air cleaner is not secured. Besides, it should be under warrenty and even if it isn't, any reputable dealer should agree to fix it for free since it is a known design defect. Kubota is very aware of their reputation for quality, they don't want a $5 problem to sour customer relations. ....
